In a majority of African American Christian churches years ago, the 5th Sunday was a bonus Sunday for worship and the joyful jubilee. The women looked forward to dressing up in their all-white attire and sharing messages of GOD laid upon their hearts. Many times I looked forward to 5th Sunday because it always appeared to be a time of freedom for all of GOD’s dear children, both men, and women.
The fifth Sunday was a time for the pastor to listen to the women's ministries come forth publicly. The body of Christ was filled with a refreshed Word from the LORD through the women that were called to serve. Question…Where is that wear your all-white spiritually empowering and encouraging 5th Sunday today? It was a distinguishing time for Godly women. Fifth Sunday is barely recognized, let alone celebrated as an extra Sunday to allow the laywomen and children to come forth and serve. Yes, things and people change in life, but not the special bonus Sundays that fertilize our souls to grow more in the LORD.
We should stand unchangeably with our unchanging GOD. Jeremiah 6:16 AMP says…” Thus says the Lord, “Stand by the roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is; then walk in it, And you will find rest for your souls.” If we walk in and don’t forget the 'old ways' and stand on the Word of truth that will lead us in the way of righteousness, our world changers' testimony will evolve greater.
The consequence of deserting the old ways is we are to focus on doing what we want to do instead of letting GOD do what He promised IF we obey Him. It seemed like we have bought into a watered-down doctrine, and compromised our faith by trying to sound like, look like, acts like, and talk like the world in the Body of Christ at the house of worship.
Remember:
It's important to corporately celebrate the 5th Sunday as the extra Grace Sunday of favor from the LORD.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly FATHER,
Thank you for fifth Sundays. It is a time and opportunity to refocus and realign our spiritual selves back to you. May we walk in Your spirit and truth towards the high calling as we die to self and live for You and You alone. -Amen, in JESUS’ Matchless name.
