“In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP
The Bible is filled scriptures with about giving thanks to GOD. One of my favorites is 1 Thessalonians 5:18. I discovered a precious gem in that scripture. It is this is the “will” of GOD for you. Living a God-willed life for me has not been the same since that discovery. My truth is IF I thank GOD in every situation…every circumstance…His will for me will be done. So it is with all of His dear children. Not our will but His will in every circumstance and situation concerning you.
GOD’S will is done in our lives when we remember to tell Him Thank You in everything and in every situation. Giving GOD continuous thanks reminds us how much we do have not what we don’t have. It is not a cliche, that when we focus on Blessings rather than wants, we are happier. When we thank GOD for the things we usually take for granted, our perspective changes. We realize that we could not even exist without the merciful Blessings of GOD.
In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Let us be thankful not only for the things we like but for the circumstances we don’t like. When we purpose to thank God for everything that He allows to come into our lives, we keep bitterness at bay. It’s difficult to be both thankful and bitter at the same time.
So, as we prepare to collectively celebrate International Thanksgiving Day let us thank Him for His promise that “all things will work together for the good, to those who love God and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28)
Remember:
We can all have thankful hearts toward GOD even when we do not feel thankful in every circumstance and situation.
