“I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.”
2 Timothy 1:5 NLT
As a child, I often heard a misquoted scripture at church, at home, and sometimes at my primary school. The misquoted scripture was, “What you put down in a child, it will come back later.” I agree. But that is not the Word of God.
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
This is exactly what I think was on Paul’s mind as he reminded Timothy of the importance of his mother, Eunice, and his grandmother Lois’ ministry to him as a child. In other words, Paul told Timothy the same spiritual characteristics I'm his mother and his grandmother is also in him. Second, Paul told Timothy his Faith in God comes directly from his mother and grandmother’s spiritual instruction.
Mothers and grandmothers are spiritually certified teachers who specialize in teaching “their children, grandchildren” (and other children) the word of God. So you see, Mother’s Day is a day to honor and appreciate those same mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers of today for being the anchor of faith in their children and grandchildren's lives. I can testify that being a mother, grandmother, and spiritual mother is consistent and diligent work that pays off with many spiritual dividends if you persevere. My beloved mother was a single mother of ten children.
I watched her be a mother, spiritual mother, and spiritual grandmother. Only JESUS knows how she did all that. However, as a mother, spiritual mother, and grandmother who had great Faith in GOD, she got the opportunity to watch and witness her children grow naturally and spiritually in the LORD. I am sure there are many more mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers who did the same thing for their families.
So, I salute all Mothers, Grandmothers, and Spiritual Mothers of Faith who obey the Word of God by taking time out to teach and train their children and grandchildren.
Remember:
To cherish, honor, and celebrate the unfailing love of your Mother, Grandmother, and Spiritual Mother Blesses the heart of GOD.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly FATHER,
Thank you for mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers of Faith in you. We salute their efforts for being spiritual essential workers in the lives of their children and grandchildren. -Amen, in JESUS’ Matchless name.
