“While he was still with them, he said: Don't leave Jerusalem yet. Wait here for the Father to give you the Holy Spirit, just as I told you he has promised to do.” Acts 1:4 CEV
Sunday, May 23, 2021, is the anniversary of the promised Pentecost. It is the grand birthday of the Christian Church, as recorded in Acts 2. The anniversary celebration is centered around the “gift” of the Holy Spirit. He is our FREE helper who carries great power and authority. Holy Pentecost means fifty “the fiftieth day after Easter-Resurrection. Christians all over the world still respect and memorialize the promise GOD promised way back when the first Holy Pentecost occurred. JESUS promised His disciples that God was sending them an awesome gift and a helper. JESUS told them to wait in Jerusalem, for “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses” to the whole world (Acts 1:8).
Then on that great fiftieth morning when Holy Pentecost launched, a large group of believers were all on one accord, fasting, praying, and suddenly a sound rushed in the upper room, and the Holy Spirit sat upon each of them. They saw images that looked like tongues of fire. Everyone present was filled with the PROMISE of the HOLY SPIRIT. His Spirit empowered them to speak in languages unknown to them. Praise GOD and Hallelujah for the promise of the Holy Spirit’s on-time arrival.
Remember
Holy Pentecost, like all other celebrations it has its own brand. Red or white are the colors usually worn, and Fire represents the fiery power and filling of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for reminding us to memorialize with action and to participate in the promise of the Holy Spirit anniversary. FATHER, thank you for knowing that we need divine power to live and do mighty works in your JESUS name. Amen.
