“While being together and eating with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Of which,” He said, “you have heard Me speak. For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized and empowered and united with the Holy Spirit, not long from now.” -Acts 1:4-5. ( Amplified Bible )

Before the fire came, there was a promise.
Before the fire came, there was a promise. Before the fire wind rushed through the room and tongues of flame rested on the disciples, there was a promise. JESUS assured His disciples that He would not leave them alone. Holy Pentecost is coming again. It’s that supernatural event that happened 50 days after JESUS’ resurrection. Holy Pentecost is the promised Word of GOD. In the final moments before JESUS’ ascension, He told His disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for the gift His Father had promised. He also told them “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you;and you will be my witnesses. (Acts 1:8)
Those were not just empty promises; they all came true. Acts 1:8 was not a vague maybe promise; it was a divine promise from GOD that JESUS encouraged His disciples with. It was a direct promise that GOD would send His Holy Spirit and remain present among His people in a new, more powerful way. JESUS knew His disciples needed more than a memory of Him. He knew they needed divine encouragement with a guaranteed promise.
JESUS knew His message…the promise of the Holy Spirit would help them understand that they would not be abandoned, left helpless, and still expected to be the Missionaries He mentored, taught, and trained them to be. That same Holy Spirit promise is still in effect today. This is why 50 days after Sacred Resurrection, we should still commemorate the legacy of its coming.
The Disciples and others in the upper room, waiting obediently, were not in vain. They were in Prayer, expecting the promise that JESUS said would come. Their waiting was an act of trust. They believed and obeyed. We are in a waiting season, too. But as we wait just know this, GOD’S promises are given before His power is revealed.
Waiting does not mean GOD is absent.
t means GOD is preparing what He already promised. The promise before the fire tells us that GOD’s presence is not fragile. He does not call His people and then leave them to figure it out alone. He gives power, courage, comfort, and guidance through His Holy Spirit. That means every believer can live with confidence that GOD is with them twenty-four seven.
Waiting does not mean GOD is absent.
Far from just comforting the disciples, JESUS used those forty days to deepen their understanding of the Holy Scripture and the great mission and commission He was leaving them.
If you are waiting for direction and renewal, let the Holy Pentecost coming celebration be your hope.
Remember:
Until the fire of Holy Pentecost falls, let the PROMISE of waiting for it be enough.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly FATHER ,
Thank You for the sacred season of Holy Pentecost. The outpouring of Your Holy Spirit that still is being poured on Your people today. Thank You for the fresh fire, renewed strength, and divine guidance that it brings. In the weeks to come, help us prepare for a refreshed refilling again. - In Jesus name, Amen.

Food For Thought:
“When you strip it of everything else, Pentecost stands for power and life. That's what came into the church when the Holy Spirit came down on the day of Pentecost.”
