"So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV)

CHEERFUL GIVING is more than an act; it's a cheerful giving attitude. The way we give says a lot about the condition of our hearts. GOD doesn’t just look at the gift you give: He looks at the HEART behind the gift. Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9:7 that GOD loves a cheerful giver. Why? Because cheerful giving reflects the very nature of our Holy GOD Himself. His graciousness and His generosity filled with joy. Let’s look at how the Apostle Paul broke down three important categories of a cheerful giver.
Giving is a Heart Matter. Apostle Paul says, "Let each one give as he purposes in his heart." That means giving isn’t forced. It’s intentional. Cheerful giving is not about guilt, pressure, or obligation. It’s about love, faith, and gratitude. A cheerful giver gives because they want to, not because they have to.
Giving is a Joyful Act. A cheerful giver doesn’t see giving as a loss; they see it as an opportunity. An opportunity to bless others, to invest in GOD’S Kingdom, and to reflect His generosity. True joy is found not in how much we keep, but in how much we give with gladness. JESUS said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
Giving Reflects God’s Character. We all know that GOD is the ultimate giver. “For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16). When we give CHEERFULLY, we are walking in His footsteps. We become living testimonies of His love and grace. Our generosity becomes a witness to others of the goodness of God. Apostle Paul concludes that a cheerful giver doesn’t give out of compulsion; they give out of conviction. He says they don’t give out of fear, they give out of faith in GOD. And they don’t give to be seen…they give to serve. Let us Pray to become people whose hearts are so full of GOD’S love that it overflows in joyful generosity.
So, let’s not just give…let’s give cheerfully. Let’s give with laughter, with love, with praise, and with a heart full of gratitude. Because when we do, we don’t just please people, we please GOD. Here is some unsolicited advice: Ask God today to help you become a cheerful giver; not just with your finances, but with your time, your gifts, your love, and your life. Amen.
Remember:
God doesn’t need your gift. He desires your heart.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly FATHER,
Thank you for transforming your dear children's mindset from unintentional giving to intentional giving. Please help us be more cheerful with our time, our gifts, our love, and your life among our neighbors. -Amen, in JESUS' Matchless name.
