SUBJECT: “PALM SUNDAY IS HOLY WEEK’S BEGINNING.”

All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

“Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.” -Matthew 21:4-5. NKJV

Palm Sunday officially opens the Easter Resurrection season, followed by Holy Week. According to the Holy Bible, Palm Sunday is JESUS’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. His entry was Prophecy being fulfilled and one week before His death, burial, and resurrection. As the people celebrated JESUS' entry as their Promised King and Savior, they laid down palms, branches, coats, and the road to honor him. The crowd was huge, and the welcome JESUS received was befitting royally for a King.

The common people were shouting…”Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Which later became a well-known Easter Resurrection hymn. The crowd was praising GOD and loving on JESUS while not knowing it was His last public concert. Palm Sunday is History coming alive to remind us of JESUS' unselfish love for us. It is a time we can look back in History and say, “That’s Love.” Holy Week extended that same unselfish love. Holy Monday through Resurrection Sunday, JESUS courageously fulfilled Old Testament Prophecy. His predestined assignment to come to the earth and save dying humanity was finished when he overcame giving up His life by conquering death at His resurrection.

Again, Palm Sunday is the opening headline for the week-long commemoration of the Easter Resurrection. May we celebrate JESUS’ Holy Resurrection in honor of the King of Kings and LORD over all lords.

Remember:

Palm Sunday was the “beginning of the end” of JESUS’ ministry on earth.

Prayer:

Thank you does not seem like enough to say for Jesus doing so much. Thank you, Father, for allowing your only son to be Savior and ruling King of the world. In Jesus's Name, Amen.

O. M. Nugget:

“PALM SUNDAY IS YOUR SPIRITUAL ALARM TO REMEMBER JESUS’ SACRIFICE.”

Expository Study:

Read and study each Gospel’s narrative of JESUS' last days before His resurrection.

  • Matthew chapters 21-28

  • Mark chapters 11-16

  • Luke chapters 19-24

  • John chapters 12-21

Food For Thought:

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” -Zechariah 9:9.
