SUBJECT: “BACK TO SCHOOL SPIRITUAL MUST-DO’S.” Part 3

“Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6 AMP

VACATION SEASON WITH GOD

Attention Parents! It is not written anywhere that children will “just do it.” Children need PARENTAL GUIDANCE to stay anchored, focused, and connected to the plan, purpose, and Will that GOD has for their new school year. As a mother, I discovered while raising my children that “nothing” just happens. Especially the Spiritual Awareness of GOD’s unlimited ability. If, as parents, you want your children to learn and read about knowing JESUS, it is your job to make that happen. Notice, Proverbs 22:6 is a mandate to the parents or whoever is the guardian for a child to…

“Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This is a clear directive from the LORD. And, because I care. I carefully compiled a 5-bullet point of back-to-school spiritual must-dos for you to make part of your daily schedule.

Remember:

As parents, grandparents, Godparents, auntie-moms, uncle-dads, foster parents, spiritual parents, WE are the MANDATORS that fulfill the MANDATE from the LORD.

5 Spiritual "must-do's" for back to school. . .

  1. Start each day with Prayer. Sacrifice the first 5 or 10 minutes each morning to Pray and worship GOD. Be thankful and ask for wisdom, the ability to focus, protection, and peace for the day ahead.

  2. Adopt a family anchor scripture for the school year. Encourage your children to keep their anchor scripture in their notebook, post it in their locker, and use it as a screensaver on their phone. Teach them when stress or doubt creeps in (and it will), pause and read their anchor scripture as a reminder that GOD’s word is GOD's presence with them always.

  3. Be a beacon of light. Teach and practice kindness, patience, and respect at home, and encourage your child to model it at school. Let the children know that being CHRIST-like isn’t just about personal growth. But it’s about how you treat others. Being a helping hand, speaking kind words, and perpetually smiling are strong CHRIST-LIKE character traits that make an everlasting impact.

  4. Create a “Rest and Relax Worry-Free Zone” for after school. Decide on a time each day after school that works for your family to unplug, reflect, and release any stress, fears, or pressure from the day. This could be family journaling, family Prayer time, and a time to talk about what's happening at school. This lets children know you are interested in every part of their lives.

  5. SCHOOL HOMEWORK AND OR FAMILY HOMEWORK SHOULD BE MANDATORY. Remember, as a family, Spiritual Goals are just as important as Academic Goals. Spiritual growth matters to GOD. Simplistic activities such as reading a scripture and expounding on it will benefit both the parents and the children.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly FATHER,

Thank you for Blessing us to see that spiritual learning over academic learning should be the first back-to-school goal for all the children, parents, teachers, and administrators. Amen-Amen, in JESUS' Matchless name.
