"They show up, as people tend to do, and sit in your company. They listen to you speak but don't do a thing you say. They flatter you with compliments, but all they care about is making money and getting ahead." Ezekiel 33:31
Why do you go to church? Why do you listen to church online? Why do you confess to being something that you are unfaithful to? All these are serious questions that only you can answer "the why." The Bible tells us it is in vain to "talk" and not "walk" in what we talk about. In other words, many of our testimonies do not line up with your active lifestyle. Perhaps it has slipped our minds that GOD is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
So what GOD told Prophet Ezekiel to warn the people about in the days of the prophets is still happening now. Back then and now, the people refused to LISTEN. They went, and we went to the worship center, PRETENDING to absorb and digest the word to improve our relationship with GOD and humankind. They did it, and we do it; we roar back at the pastor, making it seem like we like and understand the message and will obey it. They did not listen and obey, and we do listen and obey. They were hearers and not doers of GOD's word, and so are we. GOD told Ezekiel to tell the people, "THEY WERE NOT OBEYING WHAT THEY HEARD."
Their spiritual ears were muted to what GOD wanted them to do. It seems like in 2023, we are deaf to the things of GOD, too. Out of all the different avenues to HEAR the word of GOD from the true worshippers, we refuse to LISTEN and OBEY. Deaf ears have invaded the Body of Christ. Are you spiritually deaf? WARNING! GOD wasn't pleased with their spiritual deafness, and He isn't pleased with our spiritual deafness either.
GOD is looking for open-hearted receiving listeners who are willing to obey Him and His word.
Dear Heavenly FATHER,
Forgive us for having deaf ears to You and your messengers. May the anointed healing for deaf ears heal your people. -Amen, in JESUS' name.
