SUBJECT: “PREPARED IN THE BODY…ANCHORED IN THE SPIRIT.”

“Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.”

 ~Psalm 86:11 (KJV)

August. . .ushers in the back-to-school season. A time GOD is calling families and students into a time of intentional preparation. Not just academically, but spiritually and physically as well.  This is a mandatory threshold where new routines, new challenges, and new growth opportunities converge. Whether students and families want to or not they have to cross over. The Lord reminds us:

“His grace is sufficient for young and older.”

-2 Corinthians 12:9

It doesn’t matter if the students are stepping into a new grade, a new school, or a new role as the parent or educator, GOD’S strength is made perfect in everyone’s weakness. Let’s examine some Spiritual Readiness nuggets that help us persevere through back-to-school stress, uncertainty, and transition.  Just as athletes train their bodies, we must train our spirits through Prayer and Scripture.

Three steps:

First, begin each day with a breath Prayer or short devotional to center your heart before the rush of the day begins.

Second, establish daily family gatherings with dinner, Prayer, morning and evening devotions or bedtime reflections.

Third, create a family memory box that reminds you of wisdom, courage, and peace like Proverbs 3:5–6 or Joshua 1:9. And don’t forget to Pray specifically over your children and your students.

Physical Readiness is important too because GOD cares about the whole person…the spirit, the soul, and the body.  Physical readiness is just as important as Spiritual Readiness because it supports mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual focus.

Here are three practical steps to create.

First, reset sleep schedules two weeks before school starts to align with morning routines.

Second, establish consistent healthy meal times that nourish the body and support overall concentration.

Third, create a dedicated study space that is quiet, organized, and free from distractions. It helps parents and students to be disciplined and consistently dedicated to growth. Incorporate daily movement, whether through play, sports, or walks, to maintain energy and reduce stress.

Remember:

Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Treat it with honor as you prepare for the demands of back-to-school that lie ahead.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly FATHER ,

Thank You for this new season of new learning and new growth. May the Holy Spirit help your dear children's minds be sharp, our hearts be anchored, and our bodies strong in your Spirit. Let your wisdom flow like a river as you raise a generation that walks in new truth, shines with new courage, and reflects Your light in every home and classroom.

- In Jesus Holy name Amen.
